Gorilla Pose

Padahastasana/Gorilla Pose

In Sanskrit, pada means foot and hasta means hand. Pada Hastasana or standing forward bend hands under feet is a deeper forward fold. In this pose, the spine is stretched deliberately and intensely.

This intense forward stretch of the upper body, including the spine, actively opens the hamstring muscles. Pada Hastasana focuses on stretching the muscles of the legs, including the hamstrings, calves and glutes. It stretches the hips and the entire muscle envelope and connective tissue of the lower body.
